This week as we all now get to explore our amazing county, we are delighted to introduce Liadain Slattery, Walks Officer for the beautiful The Dingle Way, Slí Chorca Dhuibhne on this weeks Peninsula Personality ☺️

⛰ The Dingle Way is a breath-taking 179km walk which starts and finishes in Tralee, our capital town, and takes in the small villages on the Dingle Peninsula. The walk itself takes on average 8 days to complete, but of course can be longer depending on your level of fitness or if you prefer a slower pace. You can join the trail at any number of points along its length as it makes its way along the coast of the beautiful Wild Atlantic Way.

🌊 The Dingle Way has been broken into 8 sections with each one feasible to do in a day. Of course, you can break it down further for yourself where you can also incorporate some of the amazing looped walks on the peninsula along with many of the tourist experiences available. The Dingle Way is one of the National waymarked Trails in Ireland.
🥾Liadain, hailing from Dun Chaoin and both living and now working from there, is the perfect ambassador to lead this project which over the last 2 and a half years has seen the standard of the trail hugely improved. The major upgrading and path building on the Más an Tiompain section will hopefully be completed this summer. In the mean time, Liadain is also heading up the next phase of the project that been, the overseeing of the upgrading of facilities on the trail such as local information, storytelling, and outdoor infrastructure for the trail, and diverting more sections of the road.
🗺 Liadain herself is the go to on so many of our outdoor questions and is an amazing asset to our community. She has a way of connecting with people and as an all Ireland rowing champion for NUIG we are amazed she is as at home in the hills as she is on the water!
